ANGLING CLUBS, RIPARIAN OWNERS AND WILD FISHERIES REFORM

We are aware that clubs and owners may already be looking to get organised for the 2016 season on the River Ayr.  We are advising not to print tickets at an early stage as there are likely to be significant changes in the legislation relating angling across the whole country as part of the wild fisheries reform.  We like many others are eager to know what the changes are and when they must be applied by but it is broadly understood that there will be significant changes in relation to kill licenses and a tagging system of some description brought in before the beginning of the 2016 season.  It would be an unnecessary expense to have tickets re-printed for the sake of waiting a few weeks.  It would not be acceptable to issue anglers with tickets containing information that could result in them being prosecuted.  We are expecting an announcement within weeks and we will of course update the website as soon as we get any further information.
