New Proposed Gradings for conservation in 2020 announced.

The Scottish Government has undertaken an assessment of the conservation status of salmon in inland waters in Scotland announced their proposed gradings for 2020 season. This proposal is out for consultation at present and will be open to all to respond by no later than 19th September 2019. This is your opportunity to make representations to the consultation.

or by post to Marine Scotland, Salmon and Recreational Fisheries Team, Area 1B, Victoria Quay, Edinburgh, EH6 6QQ.

 

The proposed gradings for Ayrshire Rivers are below:
Garnock Category 2
Doon Category 2
Stinchar Category 2
Irvine Category 3
Ayr Category 3
Girvan Category 3

Category 2 rivers must take steps to conserve stocks but some salmon may be retained.
Category 3 rivers will operate under mandatory catch and release and no salmon can be retained.

The Ayr Board will consider their response.
