Nethermills Counter

Evidence of illegal angling at Nethermills. Anyone caught fishing here is liable to prosecution.

The counter at Nethermills is operational and salmon have been passing through the fish passes throughout the summer months with little problem.

However, when checking the counter operation this morning at Nethermills, Ayrshire Rivers Trust staff found two broken off lines on the upper dam beside the fish pass.

A gentle reminder is that it is illegal for anyone to fish in this area for salmon or trout as there are no permits allocated for this area this year. Ayr AC gave up their lease and Crown estates have no let it to anyone else. Consequently it is a criminal offence to fish for salmon in this area. It is also a civil offence to fish for trout.

There are cameras monitoring the site and if anyone is seen fishing this water, the Board will have no hesitation informing Police Scotland and requesting they attend.
