Ronald Campbell from the Tweed foundation recently sent Ayrshire River’s Trust biologist an extract from a book called Fish and Fishing in the Lone Glens of Scotland which provided the author Robert Knox’s rather dim view of the Ayr and the villages in the catchment but this book is a faithful reproduction of the original manuscript that is felt to contain important historic details worthy of re publication.The original manuscript was published in 1859.
It is in the public domain and freely available for reproduction.
ART are grateful to Ronald for sending this and felt compelled to purchase this book but sadly, there were no other references to Ayrshire fishing within so we’ve decided to reproduce the sections on Ayr and Doon for all to see. It did raise a smile in the office.
