With effect from the 31st March 2016, the Scottish Government has passed legislation designed to conserve stocks that requires all salmon and grilse to be released in 2016. These conservation measures are supported by the Board and will be enforced.
These conservation measures are in addition to previous legislation prohibiting the taking of salmon and grilse prior to the 1st April. Effectively the Ayr and Lugar are now mandatory catch and release rivers for salmon.
