Posted · Add Comment

The Scottish Government today made an announcement on the killing of wild salmon in Scotland.

This means the Ayr is now a catch and release fishery for salmon, the conservation regulations already in place meant all fish were to be returned until 31st March 2016, the regulations and relevant legislation will be amended to extend compulsory catch and release on all category 3 rivers from April 1st 2016.  In order for the mandatory catch and release policy to be lifted the category of the river must be upgraded to either category 2 or 1.
