American Signal Crayfish in the Ayr!!!
Ayrshire Rivers Trust biologists investigating a report of American Signam Crayfish on a River Ayr tributary have now conformed their presence. This is terrible news for the Ayr system and undoubtedly will require much further investigation. Slurry Pollution
On the 11th August, Whiteflat Farm near Catrine was responsible for releasing around 30,000 gallons of slurry into the bogged Burn and the River Ayr. This was an accidental release and the farmer reported the incident to SEPA, as did Ayrshire Rivers Trust who were alerted early that morning by concerned local anglers. Trust staff

Poachers apprehended
Two Glasgow men were apprehended by bailiffs at Nethermills in Ayr fishing without written permission on Saturday. They were observed to be fishing illegally with raking gear and police attended. Their equipment was confiscated and the matter now lies with the procurator fiscal. They were fishing from the dams at Dam Park which is prohibited.
